The Chicago Board of Education Passes CPS 2017 Budget
On Wednesday August 24, 2016 the CPS Board of Education passed a 2017 budget for the school year 2016/2017. The budget insures the school year will start on time but does not insure against a teacher strike after the year begins. Many addressed the board prior to the Bozard inevitable passing of the budget.
The annual budget for CPS schools is $5.691 billion, but the teachers are still without a contract since June 30, 2015. The teachers will not go without a contract this year as a strike authorization vote is scheduled after school starts on September 6, 2016.
