Chicago Public Schools looks to cuts rather than revenue sources to close budget gap
On July 22, 2015 The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) attended a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Board of Education meeting to protest proposed budget cuts for the upcoming school year. The Board of Education has taken the poistion that budget cuts, that disproportionately hurt students with the most need such as special education, is the only way to close the budget gap. There are of course other avenues that are available, if only there was a political will to explore and implement them. And those avenues would be additional revenue sources rather than budget cuts.
