Teachers Union Solidarity Planning Meeting
On March 9, 2016 The Chicago Teachers Union joined many neighborhood and Illinois college education groups in a Solidarity with Teacher Forum to plan the April 1, 2016 Day of Action. The meeting was held at The Chicago Temple Building at 77 W. Washington St., across from the Daley Center.
Speakers included Karen Lewis, President of CTU; Todd St. Hill, Black Youth Project 100; Darren Martin, Chicago State University; Nidalis Burgos, Chicago Student Union; Ken Franklin, President of ATU 308 and Tracey Abman, AFSCME Council 31.
The Mission Statement for the meeting:
Our city and state has manufactured a budget crises. politicians claim the state and city governments are broke but in reality they are broke on purpose. If they tax the rich, there is no crisis. We must demand they invest in our future.
Every policy change over the last 30 years has been for the benefit of the 1%. Now is the time for the recipients of the those favorable policy changes to pay their fair share of taxes, crisis solved. Below are pictures from that meeting:
